1. Cut the pieces.

From background fabric (white) cut the following:
- 2 1/2 X 2 1/2 inch square--cut 4. These are your A squares.
- 5 1/4 X 5 1/4 inch square--cut 2. Cut into quarters along the diagonals, as illustrated below; these are your 8 C triangles.

From blue fabric, cut:
- 2 1/2 X 2 1/2 inch square--cut 4. These are your A squares.
- 4 1/2 X 4 1/2 inch square--cut 1. This is your E square.
- 2 7/8 X 2 7/8 inch square--cut 4, then cut each diagonally to make 2 triangles, for a total of 8. These are your D triangles.
From red fabric, cut:
- 4 1/2 X 2 1/2 inch rectangle--cut 4. These are your B rectangles.
- 5 1/4 X 5 1/4 inch square--cut 1. Cut into quarters along the diagonals, as illustrated above; these are your 4 C triangles.
Red, white and blue are only for illustration--use any colors you like!
2. Sew the A, B, and E squares together into strips.

You'll be making:
Sew the strips together:
3. Sew the A, C, and D pieces into strips.

You'll be making:
- 2 long ADCCCDA strips
- 2 short DCCD strips
5. Sew the pieces into strips and lay out like this:

6. Sew the strips together.

And that's it--the block is done!
