Courthouse Steps


1. Cut the following strips.

Center square     Cut 1     2 1/2 X 2 1/2 inches
Strip A1          Cut 2     2 1/2 X 1 1/2 inches
Strip B1          Cut 2     4 1/2 X 1 1/2 inches
Strip A2          Cut 2     4 1/2 X 1 1/2 inches
Strip B2          Cut 2     6 1/2 X 1 1/2 inches
Strip A3          Cut 2     6 1/2 X 1 1/2 inches
Strip B3          Cut 2     8 1/2 X 1 1/2 inches
Strip A4          Cut 2     8 1/2 X 1 1/2 inches
Strip B4          Cut 2     10 1/2 X 1 1/2 inches
Strip A5          Cut 2     10 1/2 X 1 1/2 inches
Strip B5          Cut 2     12 1/2 X 1 1/2 inches
It doesn't matter what colors you use, but there should be a contrast between the A strips and the B strips.


2. Sew them together in the following order.

A. Sew A1 strips to center square:

B. Add B1 strips:

C. Add A2 strips:

D Add B2 strips:

E. Add A3 strips:

F. Add B3 strips:

G. Add A4 strips:

H. Add B4 strips:

I. Add A5 strips:

J. Add B5 strips:
