1. Cut the pieces.

From background fabric (white) cut the following:

4 7/8 X 4 7/8 inch square--cut 3, then cut each diagonally to make 2 triangles, for a total of 6. These are your A triangles.
4 1/2 X 4 1/2 inch square--cut 3. These are your B squares.

From purple fabric, cut:

2 7/8 X 2 7/8 inch square--cut 9, then cut each diagonally to make 2 triangles, for a total of 18. These are your D triangles.

From green fabric, cut:

2 7/8 X 2 7/8 inch square--cut 3, then cut diagonally to make 2 triangles, for a total of 6. These are your C triangles.

Purple, green and white are just for illustration--use any colors you like.

2. Sew the C and D triangles together into squares.

Sew each green square to a purple square, as shown:

You'll be making:

You'll have 12 purple triangles left over.

3. Sew a purple triangle to each purple/green square, as shown:

You'll be making:

5. Sew a purple triangle to each of the above units, making a larger triangle, as shown:

You'll be making:

4. Sew a white A triangle to each purple/green triangle:

You'll be making:

5. Sew the units into strips as shown:

6. Sew the block together:
