IMPORTANT: Please note that this is a five-patch block. The finished size is 11 7/8 inches.
1. Cut the pieces.

From background fabric (white) cut the following:
- 3 1/4 X 3 1/4 inch square--cut 4, then cut each in half diagonally for a total of 8 half-square triangles. These are your B triangles.
- 6 X 3 inch rectangles--cut 2, then cut each diagonally to make 2 triangles, for a total of 4. These are your E triangles.
IMPORTANT: Please pay attention to the direction you cut the triangles, and be sure you cut your long purple D triangles in the same direction.
From purple fabric, cut:
6 X 3 inch rectangles--cut 2, then cut each diagonally to make 2 triangles, for a total of 4. These are your D triangles.
IMPORTANT: Please pay attention to the direction you cut the triangles, and be sure you cut your long white E triangles in the same direction.
From blue fabric, cut:
- 5 5/8 X 5 5/8 inch square--cut 2, then cut each in half diagonally for a total of 4 half-square triangles. These are your C triangles.
From red fabric, cut:
- 2 7/8 X 2 7/8 inch squares--cut 4. These are your A squares.
From green fabric, cut:
- 2 7/8 X 2 7/8 inch square--cut 1. This is your F square.
These colors are just to illustrate the block--use any colors that please you, of course!
2. Sew the red A squares to the white B triangles to make larger triangles.

You'll be making:
- 4 large red/white triangles
Then, sew the blue triangles to the pieced red/white triangles to make squares.

You'll be making:
3. Sew the white and purple D and E triangles together to make rectangles:

You'll be making:
4. Sew the units into strips.
4. Sew the stips together to make the block.

The block is finished!
